Sources and methodology
Know where the data came from before you use it.
TukuIQ is being built around source provenance: every public indicator or signal should identify its originating institution or dataset, the period it describes, and when it was last updated.
Source hierarchy
- Primary official sources such as national statistical, regulatory and public institutions where available.
- Recognised international datasets for comparable regional and global indicators.
- Documented commercial, market or sensor sources where a public official source does not exist.
- Derived indicators only when the calculation method and underlying inputs can be explained.
What we record
- Source institution or dataset.
- Geography and population or market covered.
- Reference period and publication/update date.
- Units, definitions and transformations applied.
- Known gaps, revisions or comparability limitations.
Integrity rule: prototype, simulated or mock data used during product development is not presented as current public intelligence. A public TukuIQ page should only publish a number as fact when its provenance can be traced.
